The British Film Institute is a charity that promotes and preserves film and television in the UK. This project was created by students of the BFI Film Academy, run by Media Active in Wem, Shropshire.
Myself and a group of other students created an animated short film about a local town during the time of WW2, called ‘Your Voice Sings Not So Soft.’ The film was later nominated for an Into Film Award.
I was mentored by an award winning animator to create a section of rotoscope animation. This piece featured two dancers on a stage, all of which I drew and animated on Photoshop.
‘Your Voice Sings Not So Soft’ was on show at RAF Cosford in 2020.

After graduating from university, I volunteered as an assistant producer at the BFI Film Academy run by Media Active. I worked alongside professional filmmakers to guide the students on their Film Academy Animation course, where they made a short film called ‘Oddities and Wonders’. My work involved helping set up the workshops, filming and teaching basic editing and animation techniques to the children.
‘Oddities and Wonders’ has been on show at the Shrewsbury Museum.
