Katie Smith is a 22 year old freelance videographer, travelling and creating content for various independent brands from all over the world.
She graduated in 2019 from Salford University with a degree in Television and Radio, where she specialised in video and audio editing. While studying, she’d volunteer at a local radio station as well as having her own show on student radio, learning how to produce and present radio in a fast paced environment.
As a teenager, Katie attended a BFI Animation course at Media Active in Shropshire, UK. Here she worked with professional filmmakers and animators to create her own rotoscope sequence in a short film, that later got nominated for a BFI Into Film Award. Now she volunteers with Media Active to teach and guide young creatives on their own BFI courses.
In 2020, Katie has been focusing on working with other creatives and independent fashion brands. This included travelling to Paris to collaborate with a french stylist and director to create social media content for brands such as New York based Susan Alexandra, as well as brands based in Germany, London and Leeds.
In March 2020, Katie was selected to join a group of influencers and social media content creators, to travel to California to film a documentary about a road trip from San Francisco to LA. Since then, she has been creating social media content to share on Instagram to promote the release of the film in Summer 2020.
Katie’s strong passion and drive for creating video content has lead her to work on many incredible projects. However, she feels like this is just the beginning for her videography career, and is constantly looking forward to the next out-of-the-box idea and crazy project to work on.
